In the beginning was the Word , and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Though him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. – John 1:1

Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ was promised to us through prophets in the Holy Scriptures. He was a descendant of David. Through the Spirit of holiness, Jesus was appointed the Son of God in power by dying and then miraculously coming back to life to sit at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. (Romans 1;1-7)

Jesus is calling you to believe in Him.  Through Jesus we receive grace and forgiveness of our sins.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth
John 1:14

Why you need Jesus?

We need Jesus because mankind is sinful by nature. God is holy and righteous and because of our sinful nature He is unable to have fellowship with us. Because God loved us perfectly even while we were sinners, He made a way for us to fellowship with him by sending His one and only son, Jesus Christ who was crucified on a cross, buried in a tomb yet rose again to life after 3 days. Jesus death and resurrection was mans final sacrifice.

We need Jesus to cleanse us from our sins. When we confess with our mouth that we are sinful and put our faith in God’s son Jesus Christ we are cleansed of our sins and made righteous. Through our faith in Jesus we gain access to God and will live eternally in heaven once we leave this earth.

Without Jesus, we are slaves to our natural sin and are condemned to eternal hell.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16

Jesus is waiting for you.

There is in store for all, a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to those who place their trust in His son Jesus Christ – (2Tim 4:7)

God’s grace is good news. You can’t earn God’s grace through good works. The only way to receive it is to turn to God and ask for forgiveness of your sins. Have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. He will forgive you of all your sins. They will be forgiven as far as the east is from the west. And you will live eternally in heaven with Jesus who sits at the right hand of God in heaven.

What are you waiting for?

Fix Your Eyes On Jesus

Hebrews 12:1-3

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Jesus was persecuted by the Pharisees and Jews who refused to believe that he was the Son of God. They hurled insults at him, plotted his death and then carried it out by making him carry a cross up a hill then nailing him to it along with two other criminals. He suffered a slow and painful death while they stood mocking him, whipping him and then feeding him vinegar instead of water when he was thirsty. Yet Jesus forgave them along with the thieves. He focused on the joy of heaven that was awaiting him not on the sinners who were persecuting him. And when he did finally die, after three days in a tomb, the stone that should have prevented him from ever getting out, was rolled away by angels. He rose to heaven to live eternally in heaven and to sit at the right hand of God.

Do you feel opposition from someone? Maybe a co-worker or even a family member. Perhaps you are a Pastor and it seems like you are being pulled in 10 different directions with 10 different opinions. Are you thinking of giving up? Before you do, consider Jesus who endured much opposition even to the point of dying. The author of Hebrews encourages you to not grow weary or to lose heart. To turn your eyes upon Jesus. Persevere. Set your eyes on the joy of heaven. As the song goes, “turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace”.

How Can I Know God?

Let The Day Be Random

We are so conditioned to be in control of our life, our destiny our future. We make plans, write down goals, make picture boards of what our future will look like. So when something comes along and wipes out the plan, anxiety sets in, frustration wells up, anger, depression can be the result. Our inability to control has been taken away. What is there left to do. It isn’t what we have been taught or trained to do. The truth is, we never had control. Every waking moment was a random act of luck that our picture board and goals were coming to fruition. Because at any given moment something could happen, like covid19 or worse, a car crash, fatal diagnosis, heart attack, that wipes out the board and we are left wondering, what’s the point, what does the future hold, what is going to happen now.

The only given, is God, the creator of the universe who IS the only one actually in control. God has a plan for you and he’s got a picture board all set up. He knows what the future holds for you, but unless you run to him and dwell in His presence, you may never know what that plan is.

Jeramiah 29:11-13 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you”, declares the Lord “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you”, declares the Lord “and bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile”.

What if, we could let the day be random. Just wake up, say “Lord, this is the day you have made, I will rejoice and be glad in it”. Or “what do you have for me today Lord? Here I am what can I do for you”?

Then sit back and see what happens.

What do you think God is telling you to do for Him today?

Be patient, be kind to your spouse, kind to the mailman, Pray a lot, reach out to someone today that may be lonely and needing a friend. and as “who is that Lord?

Think more about the needs of others than yourself. Bake a cake. Be thankful that you have flour and can bake a cake. Read the bible to understand it. Get to know God more and more each day so you can learn to hear his voice.

God isn’t really random, he has a plan, but you will never know what the plan is if you do not seek him. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to “Trust in the Lord will all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight”.
